EISA Awards Technics SL-1300G: Best Turntable 2025-2026
In contrast to the DJ-friendly functions found on other Technics turntables, the Technics SL-1300G is engineered for high-end audio performance, focusing purely on the accurate reproduction of vinyl records. This turntable, available in silver or black, presents a sophisticated aesthetic.
The SL-1300G utilizes Technics’ new ΔΣ-Drive technology, a direct result of decades of experience in developing direct-drive motor systems. This innovation ensures the platter's rotation is exceptionally smooth, stable, and quiet, allowing for dynamic and precise sound.
The turntable's construction also contributes to its high-fidelity performance: it features a three-layer, dynamically balanced platter and a vibration-damped dual-layer chassis. These elements work together to minimize unwanted vibrations and resonance. Additionally, the well-engineered S-shaped tonearm is designed to accurately track the record's grooves.
Cordless direct drive motor for stable rotation
The SL-1300G uses a coreless direct-drive motor without an iron core. This eliminates irregular rotation of the turntable, also known as cogging. Furthermore, the dual-rotor construction reduces bearing loads while maintaining high torque. Even small vibrations during rotation are reduced. Furthermore, the SL-1300G's motor has been redesigned to eliminate subtle vibrations that can affect sound quality. To improve rigidity, the same reinforcement pattern as the Reference Class SL-1000R/SP-10R has been used for the base of the coil mount.
Motor-driven system, ΔΣ-Drive (Delta Sigma Drive)
Discover a world of audio precision with the ΔΣ-Drive: a state-of-the-art system that leverages Technics' expertise in PWM signal processing. In addition to reducing harmonics, the drive also suppresses motor vibration. This makes rotation smoother and more precise, resulting in a richer musical reproduction.
Vibration-resistant design
Three-tier turntable
The turntable features a three-layer construction with a rigid combined brass and aluminum die-cast platter. A damping rubber extends across the entire rear surface to eliminate unnecessary resonance, achieving high rigidity and vibration damping. This ensures smooth rotational stability and an inertial mass greater than that of the SP-10MK2, the standard direct-drive turntable used by broadcasters worldwide, which is more than twice the inertial mass of the SL-1200MK5.
Two-tier cabinet construction
The SL-1300G boasts high rigidity thanks to a two-layer cabinet construction that firmly connects the BMC and the aluminum die-cast chassis. Reinforcing ribs have been added between the motor and tonearm on the top panel, improving rigidity and vibration-damping properties.
High-level balance adjustment
When the turntable's weight distribution is uneven, excessive vibration or noise occurs during rotation, degrading sound quality. Therefore, the turntable's balance is adjusted at the factory using specialized, high-precision balance adjustment equipment for each item after the turntable is assembled. Turntables that have undergone adjustments are labeled with a sticker that says "BALANCED" to indicate that the adjustments have been made.
Silent multi-phase power supply
Low noise switching circuit
Using a high-speed switching power supply ensures stable power supply capacity and reduces ripple and hum. Using a switching power supply on a turntable eliminates the need for a large transformer and eliminates the need for countermeasures against the resulting mechanical vibration. A switching frequency of more than 100 kHz limits the impact of noise on the music playback bandwidth.
Current injection active noise canceling
This technology combines a noise detection device with an error amplifier. It detects residual noise in the power supply and applies a reverse phase current to eliminate noise components. It removes low-frequency noise more effectively than a regulator, thus creating a more ideal power supply.
Tonearm achieves high initial motion sensitivity
The tonearm, a crucial component for accurate tracking, tracks the record's rotation. Inherited from Technics, it utilizes a lightweight, rigid aluminum tube in the traditional, static, universal design. Thanks to its gimbal suspension and high-precision bearings, high initial motion sensitivity is achieved through hand-assembly by skilled craftsmen. This meticulous construction ensures accurate tracking of the record grooves. It also incorporates an additional weight, providing flexibility for a variety of pickup cartridges.
Features for clearer sound
High-damping silicone insulators
For the isolators supporting the housing, the SL-1300G uses special silicone rubber, which ensures high vibration-damping properties and long-term reliability.
High-quality connections
The turntable features gold-plated phono terminals for attaching cables, and the metal shielding construction in the cabinet reduces the effects of external noise.
