d&b audiotechnik presents its revolutionary new point-source loudspeakers, the U-Series, soon available at Bekafun!

The U-Series consists of three different point-source speakers and an omnidirectional subwoofer, available in four versions. They are optimized for use with a 5D amplifier (but can, of course, be used with all d&b amps) or, as a first, active with a built-in amp and DSP via Milan or analog. They are available in both touring and install versions!

The U3 is a dual 5" speaker with a 0.75" tweeter, 100°x65° dispersion, and a rotatable horn with a max SPL of 128dB.

The U5 is a dual 6.5" speaker with a 1" tweeter, 90°x60° dispersion, and a rotatable horn with a max SPL of 133dB.

The U7 is a dual 8" speaker with a 1.26" tweeter, 80°x55° dispersion, and a rotatable horn with a max SPL of 136dB.

The B10 is a dual 10" omnidirectional subwoofer with a max SPL of 130dB.

Active, passive, mobile, installed? Yes!

Until now, d&b loudspeaker systems have relied on a 4 channel DSP amplifier system architecture that is powerful, predictable and reliable, but , by definition is a predetermined, fixed architecture. The U-Series changes this. There is now a choice between centralized or decentralized electronics in different topologies, from star to daisy-chained and beyond.

While U-Series Passive variants are powered by d&b amplifiers, the Networked variants can be powered by AC, PoE++, or both for dual power redundancy, receive signal via MILAN, Analog, or both for dual signal redundancy, and can be operated via d&b’s R1 software control redundancy or offline with NFC control.

In “single cable operation mode”, power, signal, remote monitoring and control (PoE++, Milan, R1) can be supplied by single CAT6 Ethernet connection, bringing very significant savings in deployment efforts and cabling infrastructure costs.

Electroacoustics

U-Series acoustical concept features a bipole LF driver arrangement that results in outstanding vertical directivity control starting from 500 Hz for all models.

Each cabinet has a tool-free (patent pending) rotatable high-frequency waveguide-horn assembly that ensures extremely accurate HF dispersion control, increase headroom, reduced distortion and extraordinary off-axis behavior.

All 3 models exhibit a common full-range tonality and low-frequency extension down to 55 Hz (-5 dB), which improves sonic consistency and simplifies system design work.

The Passive and Networked variants of each model are identical physically and acousticalla and deliver the same performance regardless of the amplifier or power topology.

U-Series Passive

- U3
- U5
- U7
U-Series Passive variants set a new standard in versatility, broadband directivity control and efficiency. Available in three sizes and optimized for use with d&b’s energy-saving 5D amplifier, these loudspeakers offer outstanding value – with no compromise in performance.

U-Series Networked

- U3N
- U5N
- U7N
With their pioneering hybrid power (AC/PoE++) and signal (MILAN/Analog) topology, U-Series Networked variants enable unprecedented system architecture freedom. Alongside d&b’s Soundscape technology, the U-Series Networked variants can create entirely new possibilities for immersive sound applications.

B10-SUB. B10N-SUB.

The compact multipurpose subwoofers B10 and B10N optimally pair with the U-Series and other compact d&b loudspeaker systems. B10/B10N feature dual high performance drivers, housed within a bass-reflex cabinet design with a new, sophisticated port design. The versatile form factor makes these subwoofers an ideal solution for small footprint applications or set-ups where low heights are necessary. Based on the same technology as the U-Series Networked variants, the B10N provides all hybrid-topology advantages, offering system architecture freedom also for high-impact low-end extension. The high efficient subwoofer design of the B10 models achieve their full performance with 5D amplifiers.
