Akai MPCXL

20-01-26

Akai Professional today announced the MPC XL, the most powerful standalone workstation in the history of the legendary MPC line. With a massive leap in processing power, redesigned expressive pads, and deep integration with the new MPC3 operating system, the MPC XL positions itself as the ultimate heart of the modern recording studio.

MPCe Pads

The iconic MPC pads have been completely reinvented with the introduction of 3D-sensing technology. Divided into four quadrants, the new MPCe pads allow you to morph, loop, and layer sounds on each pad based on both where and how hard you press. This added dimension of control allows producers to manipulate effects and parameters in real time, simply by moving across the pad's surface. This makes the MPC XL not just a sampler, but a highly expressive live instrument that captures every nuance of your performance.

The powerhouse among workstations

The MPC XL is designed for producers who want to completely eliminate the computer from their workflow. It's powered by a next-gen 8-core processor that's four times more powerful than its predecessors. Combined with 16GB of RAM and an internal 256GB SSD, this system can handle even the largest projects with ease.

control with OLED feedback

No more menu diving. The 16 touch-sensitive Q-Link knobs each have their own OLED display, allowing you to instantly see which parameter you're adjusting. Combined with the new "XL Channel Command" section, you have direct control over your mix, volume levels, and effects sends.

Connectivity for all your gear

Whether you’re recording guitars, capturing vocals via XLR with phantom power, or driving a complete modular synthesizer setup using its 16 CV/Gate outputs, the MPC XL connects everything. Via USB-C, it also functions as a 24-channel audio interface for seamless integration.

The Touch-strip & Sequencer

For the live performer and fast beatmaker, the XL introduces an assignable touch strip and a physical step sequencer with 16 RGB buttons. These let you instantly control your hi-hats, apply real-time effects, or build rhythms quickly without interrupting your workflow.
