Allen & Heath: QU-Serie
12-06-25
Comparison: Old vs. New QU Models
Previous generation QU mixers, such as the QU-16, QU-24 and QU-32, were already popular for their workflow and solid build quality. However, the new QU5, QU6 and QU7 bring significant improvements that raise the bar even higher for digital mixers
- Processing: Upgraded to 96kHz FPGA for superior audio and lower latency (from 48kHz DSP)
- Inputs: Increased to 38 inputs (from 32).
- Mix Buses: Now 12 mix buses + 4 matrix outputs (from 10).
- Effects: 6 FX engines (from 4).
- Touchscreen: Larger, brighter 7" capacitive screen.
- Fader Layers: 4 custom layers (from 2).
- USB Interface: Faster 32x32 USB-C (from 24x24).
- Dante: Optional Dante connectivity on new "D" versions.
- New Tools: Includes Feedback & Gain Assist.
New features in detail
- 96kHz FPGA Core: The move to this powerful processing engine delivers unparalleled audio quality with minimal latency and maximum clarity.
- Improved I/O and Mixing Capabilities: More inputs and mix buses allow engineers to manage more complex setups, while 12 mix buses and 4 matrix outputs enable advanced routing options.
- New Capacitive Touchscreen and UI: The faster and more intuitive 7” capacitive touchscreen, combined with a completely redesigned user interface, speeds up navigation and significantly improves workflows.
- DEEP Processing & Assistive Tools: The new mixers are DEEP Processing-ready, meaning they are compatible with studio-grade compressors and preamps from the renowned dLive series. In addition, Feedback and Gain Assistants are integrated to speed up soundchecks and minimize feedback.
- Dante Connectivity: For installations and live productions that require networked audio, the QU5D, QU6D, and QU7D are equipped with a 16x16 Dante interface. This allows for seamless integration with other Dante equipment.
